Create More Income...Work From Your Home?

Let's talk about what you do to earn your living...your work. What is your present 'attitude' toward your job. Do you dislike it? Hate it? Or maybe you love it. No matter what you feel about it, I would like to help you look at it with a different mindset...and make you aware of the importance of beginning to create more income streams.

The information here is meant to 'activate your creativity' and give you 'ideas' to change your perspective on your current job/work, and show you how you can look for 'hidden' opportunities.

According to statistics, 75% of the general population is unhappy with their present job. They don't consider it as something they want to do the rest of their lives. Guess what?...they don't have to if they learn how to create more income streams on a part time basis.

Most people cannot afford to just quit their job and follow their passions and dreams with no plan. Please don't consider doing this with no income to fall back on. The smart thing to do is continue your present work and spend your 'off time' thinking, planning, searching out, and acting on opportunities to create more income streams for yourself. When you start a small 'side business you begin a 'process' that can lead to large rewards. Beginning a 'side business' out of your home by taking small steps has a 'magical' way of leading to larger steps and will create more income.

Let's look at a scenario...

Suppose you work in retail sales. You may sell clothes, jewelery, cars, books, carpet, or anything else sold at retail. Let's say you sell shoes. If you're unhappy with your job you probably get up each day and gripe because you have to go to work again. You show up on time and complain when a customer comes in because now you have to actually do some work. You put on your 'fake' smile, go through the motions your accustomed to each day, and sell a few pairs of shoes here and there. You continually watch the clock and count down how long you have before you can leave and go home. Your thoughts aren't on your work, they drift all over the place all day long. Finally, it's quitting time. You zoom out of work at the exact tick of the clock when your shift ends and you drive home. And you get to do the same thing tomorrow.

If this is the way your view your job, I would venture to say you are not top shoe salesperson in your company. I would also venture to say you struggle each month to pay your bills. I'm betting you do not impress your boss either. Surely, you're not happy with your work.

Don't feel bad. This is the way a large percentage of people worldwide approach their jobs. They are simply unfilfulling, offer no challenge, and don't create any excitement. If you find yourself working at your job with this attitude it is time for you to make plans to create more income streams for yourself and your family. It's time to make 'plans,' and take 'action,' to be able to eventually leave that job.

If you're motivated to create a better life for you and your family and quit your job, starting a small home-based business is the first step. You can devote a couple hours each night to work on building a home-based business to create more income and 'free' yourself from your job. It won't happen overnight. There is no get-rich-quick. But there is a get-rich-slowly if you simply begin the process. That first step is the most important. Most people will not step out of their 'comfort zone' and make that first step. Big mistake!

Suppose it takes you a year, or two, or maybe even three years to build a part time, home-based business to the point where it replaced your day job income? Wouldn't you gladly exchange the time it took to build yourself a business from your home, IF YOU KNEW RIGHT NOW that you could replace the income you now make at your present job? Most people would gladly make that trade. You could work your own hours, from home, and by shifting to working this business full time you should skyrocket your income.

And if you love the work you presently do you can create more income by 'diversifying' and adding additional income streams based on your present work. Let's look at both.

Suppose you decide you are going to begin investigating opportunities outside your present work that will allow you to start a side business, or two, part time while you continue to work at your present job. You can either plop yourself in front of the TV each night and continue with your present life, or you can decide to spend a couple hours a night learning how to start a home business to create more income.

If you have any ambition at all you should begin to research magazines and the Internet to find information about how to start a part time business based around something you love to do. Make SURE you pick something that you love to do to begin this business. It is extremely important to build this business around what you are passionate about. Whatever you have an intense interest in, whether it's a hobby or a good cause, you can turn it into a money making business.

Let's say you love to play your accoustic guitar as a hobby. You know you're never going to play in a famous band and travel the world playing concerts, but what if you started a small part time business offering other people who play guitar all kinds of inexpensive products that guitar players want, or need, to buy?

You could put up a website (very easy to do for anyone), partner with a company that offers discounted prices on products for guitar players, and offer those products to guitar players all over the world via your own website on the Internet.

When someone finds your website because they are looking for guitar player products, you will have related information and a 'link' on your site that sends these surfers straight to your partners site when they click on it. Once the surfer is directed to your partners website they will see offers all types of great products they are searching for at discounted prices, and when these visitors buy something on your partners site you receive a commission from the sale. This is called affiliate marketing.

You don't have to have any physical inventory of products as an affiliate businessperson. You simply use proven methods (we'll talk about that in another classroom) to send Internet surfers who are searching for products for guitar players, to the website of your partner. His software tracks who sent the customers to his site and he pays you for every sale made by these surfers you directed to him.

I advise people new to Internet marketing to begin as an affiliate. This marketing method will create more income fairly quickly, and more importantly, teaches you the 'ropes' of how to make money online. Making money online is not rocket science. It's something anyone can learn to do. There are basic 'steps' to follow. If you can surf the web and send/receive email, you have the skills to build a money making website. Many, many people earn serious incomes online from the comfort of their homes.

With the software available today no technical skills are needed. And the opportunities to make money on the Internet in 2008 are 'wide open' for new people. (We'll talk about how to make money online in another classroom soon.)

Okay, let's say you have decided to create more income by starting a part time business on the Internet. Or maybe you would prefer to start some other type of part time business out of your home not related to the Internet. This is entirely feasible also. You can offer practically any type of services from your home and build a lucrative business and create more income.

But we still have your job selling shoes to consider. Let's take a 'different angle' and size up how we can make that job better until you can leave it behind in the near future

When you wake up tomorrow tell yourself you are very happy you are able to go into work, sell shoes and make money, and be able to go home at night to work on your new part time business venture. You now have a 'plan' on how you're going to create more income streams. You are researching and getting some good ideas for a part time business in a field you like. You are getting motivated at the prospect of beginning your own business from home.

Use this new motivation to help you to look at your present job differently. Your job selling shoes is now going to 'finance' your part time efforts to create more income from a part time business. This job selling shoes just became much more important to you. Without your job you would not be able to pay your bills and begin your part time business. And it doesn't take much money to start a home-based business.

Every time you see a potential customer come through the door at your job be sincerely grateful. Say the words "Thank You" to yourself. Approach every customer with the mindset that they are helping you to realize your dreams with their business. Their business allows you to have a job. Your job selling shoes is financing your part time business dreams.

It's all about your customer, not about you. You must remember that whether you work at a job or have your own business. These customers are now very important people. Ask them questions, find out exactly what problem they came in to solve or what they need, and help them find the perfect shoe to make them happy. Be genuine in your feelings and they will 'feel' your enthusiasm. They will want to buy from you.

Keep this attitude all day long while you're selling shoes. Be truly thankful for each and every person who walks through the door. Remember, they are helping you to create more income to finance your dreams of making money with your part time business. You are not just selling shoes for the store owner. You are helping solve a problem, or a need, and in turn helping yourself move closer to your dreams.

Think of other ways you could sell more shoes. Could you call, or send letters to busy exectives at large corporations and offer to bring some samples of shoes to their offices? They wouldn't have to take time out of their busy days to stop at shoe stores and spend their valuable time trying on shoes. You could bring some of best selling styles and sell them to these busy executives right in their offices. The more shoes you sell, the more money you have to invest in building your part time business.

If you 'brainstorm' I'm sure you can come up with other good ideas to sell more shoes (or any other retail item). And guess what? By approaching your job with this type of attitude you will quickly be earning more money, getting the attention of the store owner, and 'shifting' your attitude to one of providing 'value' to others.

When you learn how to provide genuine 'value' to others you have learned an important 'secret' about how to make money. You are learning how to really 'do business.' It's not about how many shoes you can sell. Not at all. It's not about the products or services in any type of business. It's about providing 'value' and 'service' and 'convenience' to others. It's all about solving people's problems. That's what people pay for. When you learn, and practice this principle, your business and income will increase.

If your a plumber, provide the absolute best plumbing services in the world. Go the extra mile. Add extra adhesive to every pipe joint and tell the customer what you did. If you are a carpet layer, make every job a work of art. Make your customers say WOW! If you sell cars, don't worry about making the sale. Worry about educating your customer about all the 'benefits' of owning the car. They will like the 'features' such as power windows and heated seats, but emphasize benefits to them such as the 'ease of operation of the automatic windows' and the 'nice, warm, comfortable feeling' of the heated seats.

Don't ever sell the steak itself, sell the tenderness and great taste of the steak.

Okay, you get the idea. Look at your present job and be truly grateful to have it, be the best you can be at it, and use it to create more income to propel you to new heights by financing your new part time business. Get excited at your possibilities in the near future, stay on course and build a part time business from home, and reap the rewards.

Let's look at another scenario...

Suppose you are a Registered Nurse (RN) and absolutely love your job. You want to work in this field for the rest of your life. It's fulfilling, offers challenges each day, and gives you tremendous satisfaction. If this is how you look at your present work I would advise you to stay in this line of work for the rest of your life. But...I would like to make you 'aware' of additional opportunities that could be available to you to create more income in this work you love so much.

(This information can be adapted to any type of work.)

With the specialized knowledge you have you can create more income streams for yourself. You can add these income streams on a part time basis.

I would advise you to begin writing articles other RN's would be interested in reading and submitting them to local newspapers, health care/trade magazines that cater to RN's, Internet websites for RN's, and articles directories on the Internet. These articles should be about the different situations and events you are involved in with your daily work.

Your knowledge and experiences could benefit other RN's, especially those nurses just beginning their careers. You don't have to be an award-winning writer to put together good articles. Write like you're talking to your best friend and you will create good articles. Again, the trick is simple...begin. Take that first step.

Submitting articles can result in many benefits. Many magazines and websites are continually looking for new articles they can use. They have to do this on a monthly and yearly basis to find fresh material. One benefit of writing and publishing articles is your immediate supervisors and administrators will look at you in a different manner. Writers seem to have a 'special' place in our society. Another huge benefit is that magazines, and some Internet websites, pay hundreds of dollars for good articles. You begin to create more income. Once you are published you can often count on a steady income stream by writing more articles on a monthly basis to those same magazines and websites.

The money you earn is secondary to a much more valuable benefit for you...exposure. When you have published articles in circulation you are considered an 'expert' in your field. Once you are published in one trade/health care magazine or health-related website you can continue to market to other magazines/websites in this field as a 'published writer,' which skyrockets your credibility and reputation and opens up many more opportunities for you. Once you are 'published,' more and more editors in other health-related fields will want to pay you for your articles. They need your help. This one technique of writing articles can create more income for you.

But this is only the beginning...

To add another income stream to the personal business you are building part time, you should now contact hospitals, nursing schools, and medical associations in your local, regional, and state area and offer your writing/training/speaking services to them. All the information you need to put these writing services, training sessions, or speaking engagements together is contained in the previous articles you have written.

Speaking pays well, and you simply talk about the content you wrote about in your articles. You already have the knowledge, all you have to do is format it for the speech you are hired to deliver. If you are afraid of speaking in public then join a local 'Toastmasters' group, or other speaking group, and you will learn how to overcome this limiting fear. This is part of building your business.

You can also create simple 'training workshops.' You could easily develop a 'training workshop for new RN's' that would be considered valuable by hospital management, and many hospitals will be receptive of your offers and gladly pay you to help their new RN's get started in their new careers. 'Brainstorm' and come up different angles for 'workshops' you could develop to help other RN's. Your 'workshops' could help RN's reduce stress, balance family and work life, and solve a host of other problems facing them. These types of 'workshops' create more income streams.

At this point you could begin to develop your own information products to sell. You could build a website (as I said earlier,very easy to do) based on your services. You could create e-books, CD's, DVD's, and training programs to help RN's solve problems. A website allows you to sell them to RN's all over the world. You can also sell this type of product at the 'back end' of your speaking engagements. (Software is available to easily create all of these valuable products from home on your computer.) The income from a simple website like this could be very substantial, and ongoing.

Another way to create more income is to consider writing a book (perhaps a 'Handbook for new RN's' or 'The RN Problem Solver'...you get the idea). You can hire a 'ghostwriter' to write it with you, and market it to agents, book publishers, and on the Internet.

The Internet is all about information, information, and more information. That's what people use it for, to find information. Information products sell extremely well on the Internet and can create more income streams that supply you with significant income for many years to come.

Once you begin to have success, perhaps over a couple years time, (perhaps only a couple months) and have been hired by a hospital or clinic in your region or state, you now have a greater opportunity to increase the level of your present income and reputation, and expand your personal business to a much higher level. It's time to THINK BIG.

You can now create a public relations 'kit' with your biography, published articles, references from the hospitals your held training classes at, and perhaps a video DVD of you speaking at these classes, a copy of your book, a marketing brochure, testimonial letters and other marketing materials.

You can begin to market your services to large national hospital and medical organizations and groups that operate many hospitals and clinics in different states. You simply send your press 'kit' to them. These groups are always searching for fresh, new writers and speakers and instructors for their national publications and events. And these national companies and events pay huge fees as well as all travel and hotel expenses.

Once you are hired at this level you will likely never have to work as a hourly/salaried RN again. You will still be working in the field you love, but you will be working on a much higher national and international level. You will decide when, where, and how much you work. You will work from your home. And you will determine your own income. You will be making a valuable 'contribution' to the medical field.

Can you 'see' how one small step in the right direction could lead you to accomplish much more than you ever thought possible? Small successes have a way of leading to larger and larger successes. It's a natural progression.

This can be done, by anyone. It has been done many times by many people and will continue to be done by people from all walks of life. This 'business model' I just talked about can be adapted to practically any type of work expertise or expert knowledge you have in any field.

All the information you need to create more income streams is out there and available to you. Success will come to the people who can 'see' the opportunity. People who create a 'vision' for their future. People who are not afraid to THINK BIG. Will you be one of them? You can be.

Even when you THINK BIG and miss the mark, you will still hit much higher than if you never tried in the first place.

I hope this classroom has given you a new perspective on how to look at your present work/job differently. If you're unhappy with your present work, make plans and take steps to replace it. If you love your present work, make plans and take steps to create more income streams based on your specialized knowledge.

I hope you understand how important it is to learn how to create more income streams for yourself and your family. When you have multiple income streams and one dries up, you have others to rely on.

There is always an answer to our problems and another way to look at things. We just have to seek it out and act on it. Opportunity is everywhere. The trick is being open-minded and able to 'see' it.
